INTERIM COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
SPLINT, NASAL (Large, Brown)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Interim Commercial Item Description which was developed by the Defense Personnel Support Center, Directorate of Medical Materiel, DPSC-RST, 2800 South 20th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19101, based upon currently available technical information.
This interim commercial item description covers a large Brown style nasal splint for use in fractures of the nose or other nasal medical conditions.
Salient characteristics:
Material. The splint shall consist of three layers of material. The center layer shall be of aluminum covered on one side by a neutral colored felt and on the opposite side by brown colored cloth.
Construction. The splint shall be a large size with dimensions of 2-3/4 inches from top to bottom and 2-3/8 inches at the widest points. The splint shall be shaped to fit the nose when bent into a “V” shape and applied to the nose. The splint shall not be provided with a forehead extension. The splint shall be easily bent by hand to fit the contour of the nose.
Workmanship. The nasal splint shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability. Splint shall be free from burrs, cracks, pits, sharp edges, deformation, dirt, grease, oil or other foreign matter.
Product Quality Level.
Visual and dimensional examination. Shall be examined to verify that design, construction and workmanship are in accordance with applicable requirements.
