Kleinert-Kutz, Sharp Point, Medium
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers a skin hook for use in general and plastic surgical procedures.
Salient characteristics:
Shall be a sharp skin hook, Kleinert-Kutz style, 7 inch (18 cm) overall length, with medium 3.4 circle tip for use in general and plastic surgical procedures.
The skin hook shall be in accordance with Federal Specification GG-I-526 and as specified herein.
Material. Shall be fabricated from a corrosion resistant authentic stainless steel, class 3, in accordance with ASTM F 899.
Hardness. After proper annealing the Rockwell hardness shall be B75 to B100.
Passivation. The instrument shall be properly passivated.
When tested as specified in the boil test, the surface of the skin hook shall show no signs of corrosion (without magnification).
Style and design. The skin hook shall have a knurled handle to prevent slippage during use. The tip of the skin hook shall be 4 cm in diameter. The style and dimensions of the skin hook shall be in accordance with figure 1.
Finish. The finish of the instrument shall be mirror or satin.
Workmanship. The skin hook shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
PRODUCT QUALITY LEVEL.
Visual and dimensional examination. Shall be examined to verify that design, construction and workmanship are in accordance with applicable requirements.
Materials. The supplier shall be responsible for performing tests to assure that materials are in accordance with requirements specified.
Unit. Each (EA). One skin hook, as specified, constitutes one unit.
