CONNECTOR, SURGICAL TUBING STRAIGHT, PLASTIC
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to Military Specification MIL-C-37908 dated 7 December 1987.
This commercial item description covers a straight tube for use with 3/16, 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, and 7/16 inch, inside diameter, tubing.
Salient characteristics:
The connector shall be fabricated of rigid transparent or translucent plastic and meet the requirements of the current USP for Class II plastic. The connector shall have no more than 5 parts per million extractable barium, calcium and lead. The connector shall be capable of autoclaving at 275o for 20 minutes without distortion or embrittlement.
The connector shall be a straight, tapered tube measuring 3-1/2 ± 1/2 inches in length, and shall have serrations for providing leakproof connection at each end for flexible tubing sized 3/16, 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, and 7/16 inch inside diameter.
Workmanship. The connector shall be examined for symmetry of the tapered ends. The channel of the connector shall be examined for smoothness and obstructions to fluid flow. The connector shall be free from defects which detract from their appearance or impair their serviceability.
Unit. Package (PG). One package containing fifty individual connectors,as specified, constitutes one unit.
