COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
DRAIN, SURGICAL, Rubber, T-type, Sterile
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description as a replacement for Military Specification MIL-D-36140A which is cancelled.
This commercial item description covers sterile gravity drains for fluid drain of the ureter or gall bladder in general surgical and treatment procedures.
Salient Characteristics:
General. This specification covers surgical drains of the following sizes:
Size 14 French
Size 16 French
Size 22 French
The specific drain size to be provided for each stock number is indicated under notes.
The drain shall be fabricated in the form of a letter “T” the juncture of which shall be smooth without seams or groove marks.
Material. The drains shall be of natural latex rubber, non-pyrogenic, nontoxic and meet the requirements of the United States Pharmacopiea (USP) for Class IV Plastics.
Style, design and dimensions. The drain shall be in accordance with Figure 1.
