COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
SUPPORT, KNEE
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to Interim Commercial Description A-A-0051452(DM), 16 May 1986.
This commercial item description covers three (3) sizes of an elastic knee support with spiral stays on both sides to give support to an injured knee.
Salient characteristics:
The knee supports shall be of the following sizes and circumference:
Size 1 Small 11-1/2 to 13 inch (29.2 33 cm)
Size 2 Medium 13 to 14-3/4 (33 37.5 cm)
Size 3 Large 14-3/4 to 16-1/2 inch (37.5 41.9 cm)
The knee support shall have three spiral stays on both sides to give support to an injured knee. The stays shall be covered with a heavy, non-elastic web fabric.
The supports shall have a removable sponge rubber pad on each side to deliver pressure over the cartilage area and to reduce irritation behind the knee.
The supports shall have a cut-out hole in front at the knee cap area. The edges of the supports shall be finished to prevent fraying and to reduce rolling of the supports.
Workmanship. The knee supports shall be free from defects which detract from their appearance or impair their serviceability.
Unit. Each (EA. One knee support, as specified, constitutes one unit.
