COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
INCISION-DRANAIGE SET
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
This commercial item description covers a incision and drainage set suitable for minor surgical procedures.
Salient characteristics.
General. The incision set shall be sterile, disposable and suitable for use in minor surgical incision and drainage procedures.
The set shall consist of the following items as a minimum:
One plastic bag with no less than 80 cubic inches volume and twist tie. The bag shall also be sufficient in dimensions to accommodate the tray and its contents for disposal.
One fenestrated drape and one fluid resistant towel both of a nonwoven fabric, and of a minimum size 12 inches by 12 inches
.
One alcohol prep swab of 70% isopropyl alcohol.
One povidone iodine prep swab of 10% PoI USP.
Four cotton-filled sponges with minimum dimensions of 3 by 3 inches (8 cm x 8 cm).
One metal scalpel with an attached number 11 blade. The blade shall be smooth, and void of any burrs, chips, pits, nicks, ragged edges, corrosion or foreign matter.
