COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
MASK, ORONASAL (Plastic, Elongated)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
This commercial item description covers a disposable, elongated oronasal oxygen mask.
Salient characteristics.
The mask shall be manufactured from a green-tinted transparent vinyl plastic. The mask shall be elongated adult size with dimensions in accordance with Figure 1.The mask shall be contoured to fit the human face. The mask shall have an adjustable elastic headband 18 inches in length (minimum). The mask shall be of the non-rebreathing design. The mask connector shall have a rubber washer on the mask end which allows entry of air into the mask but which seats on the connector and prohibits flow of exhaled gasses into the connector. The connector shall make a leakproof connection with the mask, but shall not be cemented. The connector shall be capable of being turned in the mask socket such that the tubing nipple is capable of turning through an arc of 180 degrees.
The connector shall have a plastic reservoir bag attached to it on the end opposite the mask. The bag shall be capable of holding a minimum of 400 ml of oxygen. The connector shall have a integral divertor plate near the tubing nipple inlet which directs incoming oxygen into the direction of the bag.
The tubing nipple shall have 84 ± 10 inches of 3/16 ± 1/64 inside diameter tubing attached to it. The tubing shall be manufactured from green-tinted transparent polyvinylchloride plastic. The proximal end of the tubing shall have an attached connector capable of making a leakproof connection to a standard oxygen regulator nipple.
