RACK, SPINAL GOUGE STERILIZATION
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers a rack used for sterilizing heavy duty spinal gouges.
Salient characteristics:
General. The unit shall be a corrosion-resistant steel rack with handles suitable for securing up to seven heavy duty (Cobb) spinal gouges in the handle down upright position during sterilization. As an alternate, the rack shall be fabricated from corrosion-resistant steel and anodized aluminum.
Style, design and dimensions. The unit shall have a handle incorporated into the framework that shall permit grasping and lifting from the top-center of the rack.
The rack shall be compatible with heavy duty (Cobb) spinal gouges having the following general characteristics:

Free movement of gouges in rack shall be allowed in any direction without permitting the gouges to fall out of the rack, no matter which orientation the rack may be given.
Corrosion resistance. Rack shall show no evidence of corrosion when tested in accordance with ASTM Designation F1089.
Workmanship. The rack shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
