CANISTER ASSEMBLY, SUCTION, SURGICAL
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers a disposable suction canister with locking lid suitable for use during and after surgical procedures.
Salient characteristics:
The disposable suction canister with locking lid shall be suitable for use during and after surgical procedures. The canister shall be fabricated of a high impact, transparent plastic material. It shall have a minimum capacity of 2000 ml. the canister shall have graduation markings at least every 100 ml from 100 ml to 2000ml. It shall be provided with a frosted area or other suitable means for recording patient data.
The lid shall be fabricated of a high impact plastic material. It shall be provided with two tapered ports designed to accept 8 mm I.D. tubing. One fort shall be marked “VACUUM” and the other “PATIENT”. The vacuum port shall have a shut-off valve to prevent overflow.
The lid and canister shall be capable of tandem hook-up. The canister shall have a bacterial filter capable of removing at least 99 percent of aerosol particles while not shutting off the suction, if the filter becomes saturated. The canister shall be treated to prevent static electricity build-up.
Workmanship. The canister shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
Unit. Package (PG). One package containing 40 canisters with lids, as specified, constitutes one unit.
