COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
HOLDER, SUTUTRE NEEDLE, Castroviejo
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
This Commercial Item Description covers suture needle holders suitable for use during ophthalmic and plastic surgery.
Commercial Item Description sheet. Suture needle holders shall be in accordance with all requirements specified herein and the applicable Commercial Item Description Sheet (slash sheet – See Notes).
Salient characteristics:
General. Suture needle holders shall be of the following styles and classes.
Style I – Delicate jaws
Class 1 – Straight, 5-1/2 inches
Class 2 – Curved, 5-1/2 inches
Style II – Heavy jaws
Classic 1 – Straight, 6 inches
Material. The material shall be Class 4 corrosion resistant steel in accordance with ASTM F899.
Style, design and dimensions. Types and Classes shall be in accordance with applicable Commercial Item Description Specification Sheet and as specified herein(See Notes).
Hardness. Suture needle holders shall have a Rockwell Hardness C scale (HRC) in accordance with the requirements of ASTM F1325.
