ESOPHAGOSCOPE (Fiber Optic Holinger)

This commercial item description covers rigid, Holinger, fiber optic Esophagoscope suitable for performing diagnostic esophageal procedures.
Salient characteristics:
Shall be a rigid, metal, fiber optic esophagoscope, Holinger style, 7 mm by 45 cm long, with an aspiration channel, light carrier and window plug, suitable for performing diagnostic esophageal procedures. The metal parts of the esophagoscope shall be fabricated of a suitable corrosion-resisting steel in accordance with ASTM F899 and shall be of the proper hardness and passivation.
The distal end of the esophagoscope shall have a smooth, blemish-free tip to prevent damage to this tissue. The esophagoscope shall have an aspiration channel permanently attached to the posterior-exterior portion of the instrument.
The channel shall have a smooth, distal tip, shortened flare, and a 15 mm proximal end with a finger hole plate for suction control. Design of the proximal end shall be in accordance with Figure 3 of American National Standard ANSI Z79.2.
The oval fiber optic light carrier shall allow almost full lumen for use of instrumentation and viewing. The light carrier shall have a fiber light bundle compatible with 7 mm by 45 cm long esophagoscope. The carrier shall allow for constant, cool illumination during use and shall be capable of repeated sterilization by ethylene oxide or cold sterilization solutions without damage to the light bundle.
The window plug shall fit a 15 mm proximal extension and shall provide a closed system for inflation during esophagoscope.
