COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
BOTTLE, NEBULIZER
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
This Commercial Item Description covers a Nebulizer Bottle prefilled with sterile purified water suitable for providing moist oxygen/air.
Salient characteristics:
The Nebulizer bottle shall be a plastic, disposable bottle with a nebulizer adapter and an oxygen dilution selector dial, prefilled with at least 500 ml sterile purified water USP. The bottle shall be capable of producing moist oxygen/air.
The oxygen dilution selector dial shall permit a selection of 35 percent, 40 percent, 60 percent, 70 percent, and 100 percent oxygen/air dilution rates.
The nebulizer adapter shall have a non-ferrous connector for flowmeter attachment. A nozzle device shall screen out large water droplets from the humidified aerosols. The adapter shall provide controlled pressure flow of aerosol to patient.
The purified water in the prefilled bottle shall remain sterile until the bottle is manually opened. The purified water shall be according to the United States Pharmacopeia (USP).
The nebulizer shall consistently deliver aerosols with particles in the preferred therapeutic size range, approximately 0.3 to 5.0 microns.
The nebulizer bottle shall be capable of being temperature controlled in a suitable heating device, if necessary.
Workmanship. The nebulizer bottle shall be free from defects which detract from their appearance or impair their serviceability.
