COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
SYRINGE, ASPIRATING
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers a sterile, disposable, aspirating syringe suitable for the aspirating of mucous from the nose and mouth of premature and newborn infants.
Salient characteristics:
General. The syringe shall be a sterile, disposable aspirating syringe.
Syringes shall be Type 1 or II as specified (See Note):

II
Material. The syringe shall be manufactured entirely from flexible polyvinyl chloride. The syringe shall meet the requirements for Class II plastics as stated in the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP).
Style and design. The syringe shall have a tapered tip. The syringe shall have molded flanges designed to provide a secure grip. The tapered tip shall be free from any restrictions or occlusions. The syringe shall meet the dimensional requirements of Figure 1.
