COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
RONGEUR, STRAIGHT (Citteli)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers a straight rongeur of the Citelli design used for nasal surgery.
Salient characteristics:
Material. The material of the rongeur shall be Class 4 martensitic stainless steel in accordance with ASTM Designation F899.
Hardness. The rongeur shall have a Rockwell Hardness C Scale (HRC) 40 to 55. The hardness shall be tested in accordance with ASTM Designation E18 or ASTM Designations E92 and E140.
Style, design and dimensions. The rongeur shall be in accordance with Defense Personnel Support Center (DPSC) Drawing No. 24561 for style, design and dimensions.
Finish. The finish of the rongeur shall be mirror, satin, or matte.
Resistance to corrosion. The rongeur shall show no signs of corrosion when tested in accordance to ASTM Designation F1089.
Performance. Under no circumstances shall looseness or free play of either handle permit misalignment of the jaws upon closing.
