COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
TUBE, SUCTION, SURGICAL
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
This commercial item description covers a Poole surgical suction tube of 3-way versatility.
Salient characteristics:
General. The suction tube shall be sterile, disposable, non-conductive suction apparatus ]’suitable for evacuation of blood, debrided tissue, and fluids associated with general surgical procedures.
Material. The suction tube shall consist of a clean, flexible plastic tube permanently connected to a plastic suction tip at one end and a universal hospital connector at the other end. The flexible plastic tube shall have a Shore Durometer hardness of A65, minimum when tested in accordance with ASTM D2240. The suction tip shall have a removable sheath and be governed by a single twist, slide back motion to provide the following three configurations.
Sheath on, totally enclosing suction tube holes.
Sheath on, but retracted so as to expose the suction tube holes.
Sheath entirely removed from suction tube.
Style and design. The style and dimensions of the suction tube shall be in accordance with DPSC Drawing No. 24559.
The suction tube shall be fabricated of materials which meet the requirements of the USP for Class II plastics.
Toxicity. The suction tube shall be non-toxic.
Pyrogenicity. The suction tube shall be non-pyrogenic.
