COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
FORCEPS, HEMOSTATIC
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description in preference to Federal Specification GG-I-526B.
This commercial item description covers metallic, reusable, hemostatic forceps used for accomplishing hemostasis during surgery.
General.
Commercial Item Description Sheet. The forceps shall be in accordance with all requirements specified herein and the applicable Commercial Item Description Sheet (slash sheet-see Notes).
Salient Characteristics:
The definitions of the terms and components used in this specification are delineated in ASTM F921. Performance shall be in accordance with the requirements specified in ASTM F1026. Corrosion requirements shall be in accordance with ASTM F1089.
Material. The material shall be class 4, corrosion resistant steel, in accordance with ASTM F899.
Hardness. The Rockwell hardness of the instrument shall be C40 to C48.
Style, design and dimension. Shall be in accordance with the applicable Commercial Item Description Specification Sheet and as specified herein (See Notes).
