COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
FORCEPS, GALL DUCT (Lahey)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description, as a replacement for Military Specification MIL-F-36054A (1), date 8 October 1974, which is cancelled.
This commercial item description covers a gall duct forceps of the Lahey design, used for grasping and retaining the gall duct during surgical procedures.
Salient characteristics:
General. The definition of the terms and components used in this specification are in accordance with ASTM Designations F921. Performance shall be in accordance with applicable requirements of ASTM Designation F1026.
Material. The material of the forceps shall be Class 4 martensitic corrosion-resistant steel in accordance with ASTM Designation F899.
Hardness. The forceps shall have a Rockwell hardness C Scale (HRC) 40 to 47. The hardness shall be tested in accordance with ASTM Designation E18 or ASTM Designations E92 and E140.
Style, design and dimensions. The forceps shall be in accordance with Defense Personnel Support Center (DPSC) Drawing 20314 for style, design and dimensions.
Passivation. The forceps shall be properly passivated.
Finish. The finish of the forceps shall be mirror, satin, or matte.
