BAG, OSTOMY
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers three sizes of a disposable karaya seal ostomy bag.
Salient characteristics:
The colostomy bag shall be a pouch with a karaya seal at opening in the following sizes:
Size 1 – 2 inch ID – 2-3/4 inch OD.
Size 2 – 2-1/2 inch ID – 3-1/4 inch OD.
Size 3 – 3 inch ID – 3-3/4 inch OD.
The bag shall be a sealed, disposable ostomy bag, with protective karaya seal ring suitable for post-operative wear over a stoma related to the colon or ileum for containing and disposing of ostomy discharge. The bag shall be compatible with commercially available colostomy-ileostomy bag belts.
The bag shall be fabricated of a suitable plastic material and shall have dimensions of approximately 9 inches (22.86 cm) long by 6-1/2 inches (16.51 cm) wide. The bag shall be provided with a plastic gasket on the top center back surface of the bag, a karaya seal shall be attached to this gasket. The gasket shall have a holed tab on each side for attachment of a colostomy-ileostomy bag belt.
Each unit package shall be supplied with instructions for use.
Workmanship. The ostomy bag shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
Unit. Package (PG). One package containing thirty ostomy bags of the size specified, constitutes one unit.
