COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
FORCEPS, EAR, Oval Cup, Angular (Wullstein)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers an angular oval up ear forceps of the Wullstein design, Used in surgery of the middle ear.
Salient characteristics:
General. The forceps shall be of the Wullstein design which shall be an alligator style with very fine oval cup shaped jaws. The top lever arm shallbe capable of disengaging from the lever pivot for raising and cleaning.
Style, design and dimensions. The forceps shall be in accordance with Defense Personnel Support Center (DPSC) Drawing 24567.
Material. The forceps shall be fabricated from Class 4 corrosion-resistant steel in accordance with ASTM Designation F 899.
Hardness. The forceps shall have a finished Rockwell Hardness C Scale (HRC) 40 to 47. The hardness shall be tested in accordance with ASTM Designation E18 or ASTM Designations E92 and E140.
Resistance to corrosion. The forceps shall show no evidence of corrosion when tested in accordance with ASTM Designation F1089.
Finish. The finish of the forceps shall be mirror, satin or matte.
