COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
CLAMP, ARTERY, INFANT, PARTIAL OCCLUDING (CASTANEDA)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers a spoon-type, partial-occluding infant-size artery clamp of the Castaneda style suitable for use in vascular procedures.
Salient characteristics:
General. The clamp shall be 4-5/8 inches long with jaws having interdigitating transverse teeth. Terminology shall be in accordance with ASTM Designation F921.
Material. Material of the clamp shall be Class 4 martensitic stainless steel in accordance with ASTM Designation F899.
Hardness. The clamp shall have a Rockwell Hardness C scale (HRC) of 40 to 47 when tested in accordance with ASTM Designation E18 or E92 whichever is applicable. Conversion of hardness values shall be in accordance with ASTM Designation E140.
Style, design and dimensions. The clamp shall be in accordance with Defense Personnel Support Center (DPSC) drawing No. 22369 for style, design and dimensions.
Finish. The clamp shall be mirror, satin or matte. The matte finish shall exhibit a uniform nondirectional surface texture equivalent to that produce lightly blasting the prepared surface with fine abrasives under pressure.
Passivation. The clamp shall be properly passivated.
Corrosion-resistance. The clamp shall show no evidence of corrosion resistance in accordance with ASTM Designation F1089.
