COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
BUR, BONE, Tungsten Carbide, Oval Cutting,
8 mm Cutting Length, Long Shank
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description Sheet as a replacement for Military Specification MIL-B-42017 and MIL-B-42017/11 which are cancelled.
The complete requirements for procuring Bur, bone shall consist of this document and the issue in effect of Commercial Item Description A-A-54165.
Salient Characteristics:
Style, design, dimensions. The bur shall be an oval cutting, long shank, surgical buffing type for use with a long bur guard. The bur shall be of one-piece construction, fabricated of C2 grade tungsten carbide, hot isostatically pressed, with a grain size of 1 to 2 microns. Design and dimensions of the bur shall be in accordance with Defense Personnel Support Center (DPSC) Drawing Number 23480, Sheet 7.
Examination. The bur shall be examined at 7x magnification for bur defects not readily perceptible to the naked eye.
Notes:
a. Intended use. The bone bur covered in this Commercial Item Description Sheet is intended for use in Medical War Readiness Assemblages and DoD Deployable Medical Systems.
