COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
HOLDER, BLOOD COLLECTING DISPENSING BAG
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers a holder suitable for supporting a filled plastic blood bag in an upright position.
Salient characteristics:
Material. Material of the holder shall .be rigid plastic suitable for the purpose intended.
Style, design and dimensions. Holder shall be all plastic, one piece, and suitable for holding a filled standard plastic blood bag. The holder shall be constructed in the shape of an open box, nominal 2-1/2 inches long by 2-1/4 inches wide by 2 inches high. The ends of the box shall each have a centrally located opening nominal 1-3/8 inches wide at the top and curved toward the center of the bottom of the holder to conform to the shape of the filled bag. The bottom of the holder shall be flat to prevent rocking and tipping. The holder shall be in accordance with Defense Personnel Support Center (DPSC) Drawing 20324.
Identification marking. the holder shall be clearly and legibly marked by the moulding process, with manufacturer’s name or registered trademark.
Workmanship. Workmanship shall be first class throughout. Holders shall be free from defects which detract from their appearance or may impair their serviceability. Holder shall be free from burrs, cracks, distortion; flash, sharp edges, and blisters.
Unit. Package (PG). One package containing one hundred and forty-four holders, as specified, constitutes one unit. Each holder shall bear the legend “Return Empty Holder to Blood Bank” or similar statement.
