COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
CLAMP, KIDNEY VESSEL, 8-1/2 INCH (Ockerblad)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
This commercial item description covers an Ockerblad style kidney vessel clamp for use in nephrology surgical procedures.
Salient characteristics:
General. The jaws shall be angled and have longitudinal serrations. The clamp shall be 8-1/2 inches long. The terms used to describe this instrument shall be in accordance with applicable portions of ASTM Designation F921.
Material. The material shall be Class 4 corrosion-resistant steel in accordance with ASTM Designation F899.
Hardness. The clamp shall have a Rockwell Hardness C scale (HRC) of 40 to 47. The hardness shall be tested in accordance with ASTM Designation E18 or ASTM Designations E92 and E140.
Style, design and dimensions. The clamp shall be in accordance with Defense Personnel Support Center (DPSC) Drawing No. 24587 for style, design and dimensions.
Finish. The clamp shall have a satin or matte glare-reducing finish. The matte finish shall exhibit a uniform nondirectional surface texture equivalent to that produced by lightly blasting the prepared surface with fine abrasives under pressure.
Passivation. The clamp shall be properly passivated.
Corrosion resistance. The clamp shall show no signs of corrosion or plating of copper when tested for corrosion resistance in accordance to ASTM Designation F1089.
Performance. The clamp shall be in accordance with applicable portions of ASTM Designation F1026.
