COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
IRRIGATION KIT, CATHETER-NASOOGASTRIC TUBE
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers an irrigation kit suitable for use for gastro-intestinal or wound irrigation.
Salient characteristics:
General. The kit shall be a sterile, disposable irrigation kit containing at least the following components.
60 to 70 piston syringe with smooth catheter tip.
Luer adapter
500 cc graduate and cover
1200 cc calibrated collecting basin
Sterile alcohol wipe
Waterproof underpad
Protective syringe cup.
Style and design. The plunger shall have a thumb ring allowing one-hand control. The plunger shall have a rubber plunger seal allowing firm pressure to clear tube or catheter obstruction.
The barrel shall be calibrated in large, raised, easy to read, 2 cc increments to 60 to 70 cc for measurement accuracy. The barrel shall have an integral, smooth, tapered, distal tip, catheter tip syringe style for secure fit into catheter funnels. The syringe tip shall be protected by a removable rubber or plastic cap. The cap shall have an integral slide projection facilitating removal from syringe tip. The underpad shall be a nonwoven, waterproof material approximately 18 inches by 18 inches. The irrigation kit shall contain a Luer tip adapter which shall securely fir onto the syringe tip for use in balloon inflation.
