HUMIDIFIER, OXYGEN
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description
This Commercial Item Description covers a disposable, cylinder-shaped, plastic, oxygen humidifier.
Salient characteristics:
The humidifier, consisting of a reservoir and cap, shall be disposable, single patient use, cylinder shaped, fabricated of transparent plastic, capable of vaporizing bulk-liquid into oxygen, and shall be compatible with oxygen.
The reservoir shall have a maximum bulk-liquid level marking at a level, at least, 190 ml above the vaporizing element indicating the maximum level for humidification purpose, and a minimum bulk-liquid level marking which shall provide for at least 40 ml of usable liquid for humidification purpose. The reservoir shall have a minimum 10 ml incremented graduation markings for level above the vaporizer element.
The cap shall be a screw type or quick release type and shall include a 9/16 inch, female DISS connector oxygen inlet port, a 1/4 inch tapered barbed outlet port (adapter to large opening is acceptable), and a 2 to 3 psi pressure relief valve which shall provide an audible warning when opened under pressure and protection from over pressure in the cylinder.
The humidifier shall be capable of repeated uses with a single patient and of being cleaned between such uses.
The humidifier shall be in accordance with ANSI Z79.9 for respiratory therapy use except that the audible warning of over pressure shall produce a warning of at least 50 dB. Delete ANSI Z79.9 reference to Hz.
