SCISSORS, TENOTOMY
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description
This Commercial Item Description covers metallic, reusable tenotomy scissors used during tenotomy surgical procedures.
Salient characteristics:
General. The performance of the scissors shall be in accordance with applicable requirements of ASTM F1079.
Material. Materials of the scissors shall be Class 4 martensitic stainless steel in accordance with ASTM F899.
Hardness. The scissors shall have a Rockwell Hardness C Scale (HRC) of 50 to 55 when tested in accordance with ASTM E18 or E92, whichever is applicable. Conversion of hardness values shall be in accordance with ASTM E140.
Style, design and dimensions. The scissors shall be in accordance with Defense Personnel Support Center (DPSC) Drawing No. 23441 for style, design and dimensions.
Finish. The finish of the tenotomy scissors shall be mirror.
Passivation. The scissors shall be properly passivated.
Corrosion resistance. The scissors shall show no evidence of corrosion when tested in accordance with ASTM F1089.
Identification marking and labeling. The scissors shall be legibly marked with the contractor’s name or registered trademark and the word “stainless”. Foreign manufactured scissors shall bear the name of the country of origin.
