CLAMP, INTESTINAL ANASTOMOSIS (Best, Right Angle)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers a right angle, Best intestinal anastomosis clamp suitable for use in general surgical procedures for open anastomosis.
Salient Characteristics:
General. The clamp shall be of the Best design with right angled jaws on the distal end, joined together by a box lock (pin or rivet shall be permanently secured), have a ratchet mechanism and finger rings on the proximal end.
Material. The material of the clamp shall be Class 4 corrosion-resistance steel in accordance with ASTM Designation F899.
Hardness. The clamp shall have a Rockwell Hardness C Scale (HRC) of 38 to 44 when tested in accordance with ASTM E18 or E92, whichever is applicable. Conversion of hardness values shall be in accordance with ASTM E140.
Style, design and dimensions. The clamp shall be in accordance with Defense Personnel Support Center (DPSC) Drawing No. 23433 for style, design and dimensions.
Finish. The clamp shall have a satin or matte finish.
Passivation. The clamp shall be properly passivated.
Performance. Looseness or free play of either shank shall not permit any misalignment of the jaws in closing. The jaws shall interdigitate and close progressively with the distal tips closing first. The ratchets shall engage in each position and disengage only when released.
