CANISTER ASSEMBLY, SUCTION, SURGICAL
(One Canister with Fifty Liners)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
Salient characteristics:
The canister assembly shall consist of one (1) reusable, 3000 m capacity canister and fifty (50) 3000 ml capacity, disposable liners. The assembly shall be designed for collection and aseptic disposal of fluids during surgical procedures.
The canister shall be fabricated of rigid, clear, crack-resistant plastic and shall be autoclavable for repeated reuse. It shall be antistatic and shall be marked to indicate level of aspirated contents of at least every 100 ml for easy monitoring. Each canister shall be tapered to allow for nesting during storage.
Each liner shall be made of tough, soft plastic which conforms to the canister during use. It shall have a snap-seal lid which locks onto the canister to prevent spills and leaks; each liner shall include a built-in filter to minimize bacterial spray into the environment. The lid shall include a right angle swivel connector to eliminate tube kinking. The connections shall be labeled to prevent incorrect assembly. The liner shall have an accessory port/pour spout to allow the contents to be emptied in an isolated area and the liner unit shall be disposable via incineration.
Packaging and labeling shall meet the requirements of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act and shall be that normally furnished by the supplier as commercial practice.
