GUIDE WIRE, CARDIOVASCULAR CATHETER,
(STERILE, DISPOSABLE, 50’s)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers a guide wire cardiovascular catheter for use in invasive cardiovascular procedures for introduction of various indwelling catheter for control venous pressure monitoring hyper-alimentation, fluid administration and arterial lines.
Salient Characteristics:
General. The guide wire shall be either Type I, 17-3/4 ± 1/4 inches (45.1 ± 0.6 cm) long by 0.035 + 0.002 inch (0.89 ± 0.05 mm) diameter or Type II, 13-3/4 ± 3/16 inches (34.9 ± 0.5 cm) long by 0.25 ± 0.001 inch (0.64 ± 0.03 mm) diameter. The guide wire shall be sterile and disposable.
Material. Material of the guide wire shall be Class 3 austenitic stainless steel in accordance with ASTM Designation F899.
Hardness. The guide wire shall have a Rockwell Hardness B scale (HRB) of 80 to 95 when tested in accordance with ASTM Designation E18 or E92 whichever is applicable. Conversion of hardness values shall be in accordance with ASTM Designation E140.
Style and design. The guide wire shall be a fixed-core spring wire guide with a straight soft tip on the proximal end and a curved “J” tip on the distal end.
Sterility. The guide wire shall be sterile in accordance with the USP or AAMI requirements. Sterility assurance level shall be 0.00001.
