COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
CURETTE, UTERINE, MALLEABLE, SHARP, SIMS
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description as a replacement for Military Specification MIL-C-36737 which is cancelled.
This Commercial Item Description covers one type of uterine curette suitable for use in surgical procedures.
Salient characteristics:
General. The curette type specified herein shall be malleable, sharp, and of the Sims design suitable for uterine surgical procedures. The uterine curette shall be of the following sizes:
Size 2
Size 4
Material. The uterine curette shall be fabricated from class 3, type 302, 303, or 304 or class 4, type 420 stainless steel in accordance with ASTM F899.
Hardness. The uterine curette shall have a Rockwell hardness of B75 to B100 for class 3 stainless steel and C38 to C48 for class 4 stainless steel when tested in accordance with ASTM E18 or E92, whichever is applicable. Conversion of hardness values shall be in accordance with ASTM E140.
Style, design and dimensions. The uterine curette shall be in accordance with Defense Personnel Support Center (DPSC) Drawing No. 20346 for style, design and dimensions.
Finish. The uterine curette shall have a mirror, satin, or matte finish.
