Non-Invasive, Temporary, Desk Top Type
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
This Commercial Item Description covers a non-invasive, temporary, desk top type, 120/230 volt, 50/60 Hz cardiac pacemaker.
Salient Characteristics:
The cardiac pace maker shall be of a temporary, non-invasive, external type. It shall have either a demand/fixed rate pacing mode. The pacing rate, in pulses per minute (PPM) shall be operator selectable in increments of 10 PPM or less (including continuous), over a range of at least 40 to 170 PPM. The pacing threshold shall be adjustable in either 5 milliamperes (mA) incremental steps or continuously variable settings. The output current shall be operator selectable from 0 to 140 mA. The pacing pulse width shall be at least 20 milliseconds (ms), and not greater than 40 ms. The pacing rate accuracy shall be plus or minus 2 percent.
The pacemaker shall be protected from defibrillator shocks up to 400 joules. The pacemaker electrodes shall have a high impedance, be disposable, and have a large pregelled surface. The electrodes shall be available in both adult and pediatric sizes and shall be clearly labeled for front and back placement. A package of 50 adult size (at least 80 square centimeter conductive surface area) electrodes and 50 pediatric size (at least 30-60 square centimeter conductive surface) electrodes shall be provided with the pacemaker.
