COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
ANOSCOPE, FANSLER, 6 cm
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to Military Specification MIL-A-36955.
This commercial item description covers a Fansler design anoscope.
Salient characteristics:
Material. The anoscope (speculum and obturator) shall be fabricated from Class 3, Type 302, 303, or 304 steel conforming to ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) F899, except that the chromium content may be 17.00 to 20.00 percent.
Style and design. Shall be a Fansler-design anoscope conforming to Figure 1. The anoscope shall consist of an obturator and speculum. The speculum’s handle shall be permanently secured to its body. The handle shall not separate from the body when a 15 lb. tensile load is applied. The obturator, except for the base and handle, shall be hollow. The base shall be permanently secured to the obturator body. The handle shall be permanently secured to the base. The handle shall not separate from the base when a 15 lb. tensile load is applied.
Physical and chemical properties.
Hardness. When tested as specified in GG-I-526, all anoscope components shall have a Rockwell hardness of B75 to B100.
Corrosion-resistance. The anoscope shall pass the boil test specified in GG-I-526.
Marking requirements. The anoscope shall comply with the marking requirements of GG-I-526. Additionally, anoscopes of foreign manufacture shall be marked with the legend “stainless”.
Finish. The anoscope shall have a mirror or mirror and satin finish. The anoscope shall be properly passivated.
