COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
CABINET, STORAGE, X-RAY FILM
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
This Commercial Item Description covers a metal cabinet with light limit switch for storage of x-ray film.
Salient characteristics:
The x-ray film storage cabinet shall be constructed of reinforced welded sheet metal material. The cabinet shall accommodate a minimum of 6 cartons of x-ray film (75 or 100 sheet cartons) size 14 inches by 17 inches, or smaller. The cabinet shall sit evenly on a flat surface and shall have the following dimensions:

32-9/16 inches plus or minus 1 inch. |
The cabinet shall have a light limit switch with necessary actuator, contacts, or adjustments to protect the film from white room light exposure when drawer is even slightly opened. The limit switch shall be rated for use on 125 volts and approximately 15 amps. Installation data shall be supplied if light limit switch assembly, or adjustment, is necessary.
The cabinet shall be suitably protected against corrosion by means of a baked enamel paint, epoxy coating, or plated finish. All cabinet parts which are not inherently corrosion resistant shall be finished. All parts shall be properly cleaned or primed prior to finishing. The cabinet finish shall be uniform and free of coarse grind marks and scratched areas. The cabinet shall be the manufacturer’s standard color.
