SCREW, BONE, CANCELLOUS
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers cancellous bone screws suitable for scaphoid and routine large cancellous fragment procedures.
Salient characteristics:
General. Each bone screw shall have a major thread diameter of 6.5 mm. Shaft diameter shall be 4.5 mm. Core diameter shall be 3.0 mm. Screw shall be in accordance with IS0 5835/1.

Each bone screw shall have an effective thread length of 32 mm. Thread profile shall be in accordance with IS0 5835/1 for deep, code HB 6.5 thread.
Tolerances shall be in accordance with IS0 5835/1.
Material. Bone screws shall be fabricated from cold drawn wire conforming to the composition specified in ASTM Designation F138, Grade 2.
Length. Type 1 bone screws shall have a length of 50 mm. Type 2 shall have a length of 55 mm. Type 3 shall have a length of 60 mm.
Surface preparation. Description of surface characteristics and methods of surface preparation shall be in accordance with ASTM Designation F86.
