DRAIN, CLOSED SUCTION (Jackson-Pratt Style)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
Salient characteristics.
The drain shall consist of a length of round tubing bonded to a flattened section. Drains shall be of the following sizes, as specified:

The drain shall be manufactured from compounded silicone rubber. The tubing shall be 79 ± 8 cm in length and shall have an inside diameter of 2.4 – 3.2 mm (3/32 – 1/8 inch). The flattened section shall have 3-4 rows of perforations into the lumen of the drain with a minimum of 60 perforations. The perforations shall be placed within the distal 75 percent of the flattened section. The flattened section shall have a radiopaque stripe throughout its length and shall have ribs on the inside surface. The juncture of the tubing to the flattened section shall be smoothly tapered to facilitate a traumatic withdrawal of the drain from a wound.
