DILATOR, VASCULAR, Sterile
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description a vessel dilator, 7 Fr, suitable for use in dilating vessel wall prior to insertion to angiographic catheters.
Salient characteristics:
The vessel dilator shall be sterile, radiopaque, and disposable. The dilator shall be fabricated from polyetetrafluorethylene. The dilator shall be 7 Fr, 6-3/4 ± 1/8 inches (17 cm) in length, with an outside diameter (O.D.) of 0.092 ± 0.005 inches (2.34 mm) and an inside diameter (I.D.) of 0.041 ± .005 inches (1.04 mm) throughout the length of the dilator.
The dilator shall be uniquely designed to aid in the dilation of tissue and the vessel wall at the arterial or venous puncture site.
The dilator shall have a gradually tapered distal tip single opening at extreme distal tip to facilitate a smooth entry into vessel while reducing vessel trauma.
At the proximal end, the dilator shall have a polypropylene female Luer-Lock hub, in accordance with ANSI/HIMA MD70.1, for infusion of fluids, and to prevent accidental loss during intubation.
The dilator shall accept guide wire sizes 0.035 to 0.038 inches (0.889 to 0.965 mm).
The style and shape of the dilator shall be in accordance with Figure 1.
The dilator shall be sterile when tested in accordance to the USP.
