INFUSOR, PRSSURE, BLOOD COLLECTING-DISPENSING BAG
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers a pressure infusor suitable for applying up to 300 mm of mercury to a standard blood collecting-dispensing bag during infusion without danger of air embolism. The infusor shall have the following salient characteristics.
Salient characteristics:
Shall be a pressure device consisting of a flexible pouch, an integral rubber bladder, a supporting strap, and a rubber hand bulb with check valve and control valve. The infusor shall be suitable for applying pressure up to 300 mm of mercury to a standard blood collecting-dispensing bag during infusion of blood without danger of air embolism. The infusor shall be supplied with directions for use.
Pouch shall hold an empty or full blood bag. Pouch with bladder shall be capable of withstanding pressure up to 300 mm of mercury or equivalent without leakage, rupture of seams, splitting of material, or other defect.
Pouch shall be fabricated of a washable material which shall permit observation of blood level when in use.
Hand bulb with check valve at one end and control valve at the other shall be so attached to the bladder as to permit controlled inflation.
Supporting strap shall be used to suspend pouch and shall support the blood bag by insertion through the slot in bottom seam of bag. Strap shall be capable of withstanding up to 10 pounds pull without breakage or separation from pouch.
If a pressure is provided with the item, the pressure gage shall have a minimum range of 300 mm of mercury with an accuracy of plus or minus 30 mm of mercury.
