COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
CLAMP, PYLORUS (Payr)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description as a replacement for Military Specification MIL-C-36726 which is cancelled.
This commercial item description covers a pylorus clamp of the Payr design suitable for holding sections of the pylorus for suturing.
Salient characteristics:
General. The clamp shall be either 8 inches (Size I) or II inches (Size II) long.
Material. Other than the screws and nuts or pins, the clamp shall be Class 4 corrosion-resistant steel in accordance with ASTM Designation F899. The screws and nuts or pins shall be either class 3 austenitic stainless steel or class 4 steel (See Note 2).
Hardness. The clamp, other than the screws and nuts, or pins, shall have a Rockwell Hardness scale (HRC) of 40 to 47. When fabricated from Class 3 steel, the screws and nuts or pins shall have a Rockwell Hardness B scale (HRB) of 80 to 100. When fabricated from Class 4 steel, the hardness shall be 5 points on the Rockwell C scale less than for the rest of the clamp
Style, design and dimensions. The clamp shall be in accordance with Defense Personnel Support Center (DPSC) Drawing No. 20536 for style design and dimensions.
Finish. The clamp shall have a mirror, satin or matte finish. The matte finish shall exhibit a uniform non-directional surface texture equivalent to that produced by lightly blasting the prepared surface with fine abrasives under pressure.
Passivation. The rack shall be properly passivated.
Corrosion resistance. The rack shall show no evidence of corrosion or plating of copper when tested in accordance with ASTM Designation F1089.
