BONE PLATE
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description as a replacement for Military Specification MIL-B-36636A, which is cancelled.
This commercial item description covers one-piece, curved bone plates suitable for implantation into the human body for orthopedic repair.
Salient characteristics:
General. The bone plates shall be of the following sizes with the indicated number of holes and lengths:

The bone plates shall possess countersunk holes capable of accepting standard bone screws possessing a cruciate oval head in accordance with ASTM Designation F543.
Material. The bone plates shall be fabricated from cold drawn corrosion-resistant steel, conforming to the composition specified in ASTM Designation F138, Grade 2. Grain size of the raw material shall be five or finer.
Hardness. The bone plates shall have a Rockwell Hardness C scale (HRC) of 30 to 39 when tested in accordance with ASTM Designation E18 or E92 whichever is applicable. Conversion of hardness values shall be in accordance with ASTM Designation E140.
