COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
PAPER, ELECTROCARDIOGRAPH RECORDING
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description as a replacement for MIL-P-37571 which is cancelled.
This Commercial Item Description covers heat sensitive, water resistant electrocardiograph recording paper.
Salient Characteristics:
The electrocardiograph recording paper shall be heat sensitive, water resistant, with a black undercoat, white top coat, and an overprinted grid pattern. It shall be furnished as a roll, spooled with printed side in.
The finished paper shall be 0.0031 to 0.0037 inches thick, shall weigh 20 to 28 pounds per 500 – 20 by 24 inch sheets, shall have a minimum tensile strength of 4.5 kg per 15 mm width in the machine direction, shall have a minimum tensile strength of 2.0 kg per 15 mm width in the cross direction, and shall have an unprinted brightness of 62 to 74 percent, based on a magnesium oxide coating equaling 100 percent.
The paper shall be spooled on a core having an internal diameter of 0.620 to 0.634 inches. The outside diameter of the roll shall not exceed 3.032 inches.
The roll ends shall be smooth, straight, and parallel. The electrocardiograph paper shall be 63 mm (nominal) in width by not less than 148 feet in continuous length with a printed grid 50 mm (nominal) in width. Bottom grid line shall be located 0.266 inches (nominal) from the bottom edge to center of the line.
The paper grid pattern shall extern horizontally for the length of the paper and consist of horizontal and vertical cross hatch lines spaced 1 mm (nominal) apart. The first and every fifth horizontal and vertical line shall be of greater width and density that the intervening finer lines. Grid
