COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
FORCEPS, BONE HOLDING (Self-Centering)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description as a replacement for Military Specification MIL-F-37993 which is cancelled.
This Commercial Item Description covers bone holding forceps that are suitable for use during orthopedic surgical procedures
Salient characteristics:
General. The forceps shall be of the self-centering type and be of the following sizes:

Material. The forceps shall be fabricated from class 4, martensitic corrosion-resistant steel in accordance with ASTM F899.
Hardness. The forceps shall have a Rockwell Hardness (HRC) scale of C48 to C52 when tested for hardness in accordance with ASTM E18 or E92 whichever is applicable. Conversion of hardness values shall be in accordance with ASTM E140.
Style, design and dimensions. The forceps shall be in accordance with Defense Personnel Support Center (DPSC) Drawing No. 22326 for style, design and dimensions.
