COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
SMIAGE, IRRIGATING, Plastic
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to Federal Specification GG-S-00945d (VAMI).
This commercial item description outlines plastic syringes for one time use in aspirating/irrigating medical procedures.
Salient characteristics. Syringe, Irrigating, plastic, shall be two piece, disposable, sterile, minimum 50 cc/1-3/4 oz. capacity, graduated in 1/4 or 1/2 oz. and/or 5 cc or 10 cc increments, individually packaged, with catheter tip and tip protector. The tip protector must be placed on catheter tip in such a manner that it must remain on the tip until removed manually. The tip protector must also serve as a means of containing the liquid contents in the syringe.
Type I - Bulb Type. Catheter tip opening to be a minimum of 3/16” ID. The bulb and syringe must be securely assembled for an air tight seal.
Type II - Plunger Type. The plunger and syringe must be securely assembled for an air tight seal.
Metric products. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch-pound units, providing they fall within the tolerances specified using conversion babies contained in the latest revision of Federal Standard 376, and all other requirements of this document are met.
If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch-pound units, a request should be made to the contracting officer to determine if the product is acceptable.
The contracting officer has the option of accepting or rejecting the product.
