COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
APPLICATOR, NASAL, LATHBURY
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers applicator, nasal Lathbury, 7 inches (17.76 cm) long for use ouring nasal surgical procedures.
Salient characteristics:
General. The nasal applicator shall be a straight, cotton applicator of Lathbury design, 7 inches (17.8 cm) long, for use ouring nasal surgical procedures. The nasal applicator shall be separated at the distal tip to facilitate securing of cotton to the shaft. The nasal applicator shall have one-fourth of the total length knurled on the proximal end of the shaft for use grip of the surgeon.
Material. The applicator shall be fabricated from austenitic stainless steel type 302, 303, 304, or 316. The Rockwell hardness shall be RB 75 to RB 100.
Corrosion test. The completed instruments shall pass the boil test specified in GG-I-526.
Passivation. The completed instrument shall properly passivated.
Finish. The finish shall be bright or smooth.
Workmanship. The applicator shall be free from defects which detracts from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
PRODUCT QUALITY LEVEL
Visual and dimensional examination. Shall be examined to verify that design, construction and workmanship are in accordance with applicable requirements.
Materials. The supplier shall be responsible for performing tests to assume that materials are in accordance with requirements specified.
Unit. Each (EA). One nasal applicator, as specified, constitutes one unit.
