CATHETER, URETHRAL (Teflon Coated)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers various sizes of sterile urethral catheters of the Foley design and Teflon coated.
Salient characteristics. Catheter, Urethral, (Teflon Coated), sterile, disposable, individually packaged, material latex with teflon coating, Foley design, valve inflation channel, 2 eyes, round tip, tip length not to exceed 1-5/16 inches (33 mm), self retaning hemostatic balloon type, minimum usable length of catheter 11-1/2 inches (29 cm) (measured between the end of the balloon which fits snugly against the urethral opening at the junction of the urethra and the bladder, and the “Y” take-off of the balloon supply segment near the catheter forming the “Y” at the distal end or drainage end of the catheter).
The catheter shall be in accordance with all design requirements of American Society for Testing and Materials Standards F 623 for Foley Catheter.
