RULER, SURGICAL
(Corrosion-Resisting Steel)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers a flexible 6 by 1/2 inch surgical ruler.
Salient characteristics:
Shall be a flexible ruler suitable for use during orthopedic, plastic, general, and opthalmological surgical procedures. 6-1/4 inches long by 1/2 + 1/64 - 1/32 inch wide by 0.020 - 0.010 - 0.005 inch thick.
The ruler shall be graduated with two scales: inches and millimeters. The inch scale shall extend to 6 inches with 1/32 inch increments. The millimeter scale shall extend to 15.2 centimeters with millimeter increments. The scales shall be deeply etched. Just past the end indicating 6 inches/15 centimeters shall be a 1/4 ± 1/64 inch radius. Centered in which shall be a 1/8 inch hole.
The ruler shall be fabricated of class 410 ( ) stainless steel, neat-treated to a Rockwell “0” hardness of 40-45. It shall have a satin finish.
Workmanship. The ruler shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
PRODUCT QUALITY LEVEL
Visual and dimensional examination. Shall be examined to verify that design, construction and workmanship are in accordance with applicable requirements.
Materials. The supplier shall be responsible for performing tests to assure that materials are in accordance with requirements specified.
Unit. Each (EA). One ruler, as specified, constitutes one unit of issue.
Quality Assurance Provisions.
Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contact or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.
