COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION

HOLDER, LEG

The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.

This Commercial Item Description covers a corrosion-resisting metal leg holder with disposable pad.

Salient characteristics:

The leg holder shall fit on all common, operating room tables to provide constant stability of the thigh during arthroscopic procedures and manipulation of the knee. The leg holder shall be supplied with a disposable leg holder pad.

The leg holder shall be fabricated of a hardcoated aluminum alloy, a plastic coated aluminum alloy, passivated corrosion-resisting steel, or a combination of the above.

The leg holder shall have a dependable mechanism for positive opening, closing and locking of the holder. The leg holder shall open to approximately 12 inches wide by 10 inches high. The leg holder shall contain a swivel system to allow for changing leg alignment. The vertical bars of the leg holder shall be hockey stick shaped at the bottom, or suitably curved, to prevent the leg from resting on the horizontal, thereby preventing any potential leg nerve damage. The leg holder shall be compatible with standard pneumatic tourniquets.

The leg holder shall contain a swivel system to allow for changing leg alignment. The vertical bars of the leg holder shall be hockey stick shaped at the bottom, or suitably curved, to prevent the leg from resting on the horizontal, thereby preventing any potential leg nerve damage. The leg holder shall be compatible with standard pneumatic tourniquets. The leg holder pad shall be fabricated of foam. The size shall be approximately 1-1/2 inches thick by 2-3/4 inches wide by 38 inches long. The pad shall have a fastener to prevent unrolling of pad during use.
