* Three (3) translucent oral pharyngeal airways; one size 70 mm, one size 80 mm, and one size 100 mm. The airways shall be the “Guedel” type and have the center open to accommodate the insertion of a suction catheter.
* One (1) lightweight, semigrid plastic carrying case with handle and hinged lid with a snap-action or hasp type latch. Dimensions of the same case shall not exceed 6 inches by 6.5 inches by 13 inches in order to fit into field medical assemblages.
* One (1) operating, service and maintenance manual.
All components is contact with the patient breathing mixture shall be re-usable and capable of being cleaned and sterilized/disinfected in accordance with ASTM F920 and by method defined in the U.S. Pharmacopeia-National Formulary Single patient use or disposable components shall not be acceptable.
The compression bag shall be translucent and allow the operator to monitor any collection of patient fluid or otherwise monitor results of improper valving action.
Hard parts of housings for all valves shall be fabricated of a suitable transparent plastic material allowing the operator to monitor valve action.
In addition to ASTM F 920 requirements for storage, the resuscitator with components specified herein shall have a storage life of at least 5 years without degradation of performance. Elastomeric parts, inadvertently (re)packaged having a deformed shape, shall return to their intended shape when unpacked without exhibiting memory characteristics.
In addition to ASTM F 920 requirements for disassembly and reassembly, all components intended to be disassembled by the operator shall be sized/shaped to prohibit incorrect assembly. Tools shall not be required for this disassembly or assembly.
Workmanship. The resuscitator shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
