SLEEVE, CIRCLE BAND (Silicone)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers one type of ophthalmic circle band sleeve.
Salient characteristics:
General. Shall be an ophthalmic circle band sleeve. Shall be suitable for use in retinal re-attachment surgery by facilitating the sclera bucking technique. The circle band sleeve shall comply with the requirements listed below.
Configuration. The circle band sleeve shall be a cylindrical tube with a 30 ± 0.5 mm length, 1.65 ±.05 mm outside diameter and 0.76 ± 0.05 mm inside diameter. All corners and edges shall be rounded.
Material. The circle band sleeve shall be entirely fabricated from TRV or thermally-cured silicone elastomer. This material shall comply with physical, mechanical, biological, and chemical properties listed in Table I. Samples of the material shall be subjected to the test specified for each property.
