CATHETER, CARDIOVASCULAR
(Triple Lumen, Radiopaque, Disposable, 110 cm Long)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers a sterile, cardiovascular, triple lumen, flow-directed catheter for use in making direct intracardiac and pulmonary artery pressures, sampling blood and infusing solutions.
Salient characteristics:
The catheter tubing shall be sterile, radiopaque, polyvinylchloride or polyurethane. Parts which come in contact with the blood stream or fluid being delivered to the patient shall comply with the USP Class IV plastic requirements. In addition, the catheter shall be free from pyrogens and toxicity in accordance with the USP. The balloon shall be made of latex rubber. The proximal ends shall have permanently attached hubs with Luer tapers in accordance with ANSI/HIMA MD70.1.

At 1.5 cc inflation, the tip of the catheter shall not protrude beyond the balloon. Radiopacity shall be sufficient to be visible under conventional fluoroscopic in vivo illumination. The balloon shall be inflated with 3 cc of air and immersed in water for 20 seconds without having showing any loss of air.
