Specific performance. The top lever arm shall be capable of disengaging from the lever pivot for raising and cleaning. The pivot mechanism and lever guide shall operate smoothly and freely without binding. The pivot mechanism shall be sufficiently tight to ensure correct alignment of the tips with no free-play or overlap of the tips. The tip mating surfaces shall mate cleanly with no discernable gap at any point of the surfaces.
Identification marking. The forceps shall bear the manufacturer’s name or registered trademark and the word “stainless”. Forceps of foreign manufacture shall bear the name of the country of manufacture.
Workmanship. The forceps shall be free from burrs, cracks, sharp edges, scale, corrosion, or other detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
PRODUCT QUALITY LEVEL.
Visual and dimensional examination. Shall be examined to verify that design, construction and workmanship are in accordance with applicable requirements.
Materials. The supplier shall be responsible for assuring that materials are in accordance with requirements specified.
Unit. Each (EA). One ear forceps, as specified, constitutes one unit.
Quality Assurance Provisions.
Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contact or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.
